We have just celebrated the resurrection of Jesus our Lord. Much attention has been given to his sacrifice for our benefit. All who believe that he died and rose again, shed his blood for the remission of sins and accepts him as Lord and Savior will be saved.

In my church we proclaim Jesus as Lord and King, and this is a true affirmation. However, I am concerned that we do so at the expense of acknowledging the Father. 3Jesus came to fulfill the will of the Father. Jesus said “I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” John 5:30 NASB 1995 3“37 If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; 38 but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, so that you may [a]know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father.” John 10:37-38 NASB 1995

Jesus acknowledges the Father  “13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” John 14:13 King James Version

“16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;” John 14:16 King James Version

“You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.” John 15:16 NASB 1995

Christ acknowledged the Father and his relationship to Him when the said “39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” “Matthew 26:39 King James Version

“46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.” Luke 23:46 King James Version

In Acts it states “

“24 [a]But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the [b]agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held [c]in its power.” Acts 2:24 New American Standard Bible 1995 Romans 4:24 also acknowledges that the Father raised Jesus.

“In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:2 KJV

In Revelation we see the Father seated on the throne being praised. We also see the “Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth.” Revelation 5:6 Legacy Standard Bible

We see unity in the God head. The father loves the son, the son loves the Father and the Holy Spirit.

I say all this to stress the importance of not forgetting the Father and that Jesus came to do His will. The Holy Spirit’s role in the life of believers should also not be underestimated.
