In Your Presence O God is a song sung by Paul Wilbur. Some of the words are “in Your presence O God that is where I belong.” God created man to be in His presence. Before sin came into the world God would come to the garden regularly to be with Adam and Eve. This was a continual relationship with Yahweh until they sinned.
After the fall there were some men who sought God. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God made a promise to Abraham, “17 indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly multiply your [a]seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the seashore;”, Genesis 22:17 New American Standard Bible 1995
At that time there were sin offerings and other offerings ordained by God to show repentance by the sinner. People could not individually access God they went through the High Priest. Once a year the High Priest could enter the Holy of Holies which was behind the veil in the temple. This occurred on the day of atonement Yom Kipper.
Years later God sent Jesus to make atonement for sin. Jesus did this by dying on the cross and shedding His blood for humanities sins. Only those who accept his blood atonement through accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior benefit from this.
When Jesus’ mission was accomplished on the cross there was a great earthquake and the Temple veil was rent. The significance of this is that no longer did man need a high priest but with Christs death His believers had direct access to God. This puts the believers in Gods presence.
On Pentecost the Holy Spirit was sent to fill the followers of Jesus. This gave them power to take the Gospel to all the ends of the earth. So as many as were willing to accept this word could be saved.
As believers today we have instant access to the Father. We are now in His presence where we belong.
